Frequently Asked Questions

What is a vehicle protection plan?

Vehicle protection plan is a service plan provided by a 3rd party (non-manufacturer) to supplement the existing coverage your vehicle carries from the manufacturer. Vehicle protection plan may protect you from expensive and always unexpected vehicle breakdowns.

My car has over 50,000 miles on it, is a vehicle protection plan right for me?

Yes. Car owners with high-mileage vehicles should especially consider buying a vehicle protection plan. Older cars are often susceptible to breakdowns due mechanical parts wearing out or electrical components outliving their use. Engine or electrical part repairs can be very expensive if paid in full out-of-pocket.

How does the vehicle protection plan work?

Shortly after you purchase the plan, you will be entitled to breakdown coverage of select car parts as well as some additional benefits (usually roadside assistance, towing and similar services). If your car breaks down, you will need to contact the policy provider and notify them of the breakdown. Once the claim is filed, the policy provider reviews the claim and, if approved, pays to tow your car to an authorized mechanic shop. The mechanic quotes the policy provider, which pays the repair shop directly. From there, you car gets repaired and you’re back on the road (hopefully) in no time!

What questions should I ask when choosing a vehicle protection plan?

Be sure to inquire about the following when considering a vehicle protection plan: engine coverage, electrical coverage, roadside assistance, full plan cost, deductible, grace period and transferability of policy.
